Infrastructure
Türkiye continues to expand and modernize its transportation infrastructure with strong public investment led by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Projects across road, rail, sea, and air are reshaping the country’s logistics and mobility landscape.
Road Network As of 2025, Türkiye’s divided highway network has reached over 30,000 km, significantly improving intercity mobility and safety. Asphalt-paved roads with bituminous hot mix now extend more than 32,000 km. Strategic highway connections, including the Istanbul-İzmir and Northern Marmara highways, support efficient freight and passenger flow.
Railway Network Investments in high-speed rail continue to accelerate. The Çerkezköy–Kapıkule high-speed railway (153 km) was completed in 2025, enhancing links between Türkiye and the EU. Construction of the Ankara–İzmir high-speed line is ongoing, expected to reduce travel time between the two cities to just 3.5 hours. These developments are part of Türkiye’s long-term goal to shift freight and long-distance travel from road to rail.
Seaport Infrastructure Port modernization and yacht marina development are also progressing. Projects such as the Gazipaşa Yacht Port and the Aydıncık Marina (with a 150-yacht capacity) aim to boost coastal infrastructure and expand maritime logistics capacity.
Airport Development Since opening in 2019, Istanbul Airport has become a major global hub. Expansion and modernization of regional airports across the country continue, improving domestic connectivity and supporting tourism and cargo growth.
