A mini army of Teesside workers is being recruited for the world’s largest biomass power station of its kind – from caterers and cleaners to security and medical staff. It’s been a decade in the making, but construction on the £650m Tees Renewable Energy Plant on the banks of the river is approaching its final stages. And while the commercial operation of the massive project will create around 50 on-site jobs, bosses are busy hiring a backbone of support workers to keep the entire operation running smoothly; from maintenance services to medical, finance and admin people. The recruitment drive for the scheme began in earnest last month and bosses says there has already been “high local interest” for the positions offered.
